What is a photo booth?
A photo booth is a station where guests take their own photos, with no photographer: a camera, lights, a screen that guides the shot and, if needed, a printer. Born as a passport photo booth, it has become an experience for weddings, parties and corporate events: it produces photos, GIFs, boomerangs and videos, brands them with the event’s design and delivers them straight to guests’ phones.
How it works, step by step
The guest walks up to the station and taps the screen. They choose the format, such as photo, GIF or boomerang, strike a pose with friends and take the shot. Within seconds the content is ready with the event frame: the couple’s names, the company logo, the party design. They receive it on their phone via QR code, AirDrop, email or SMS and, if printing is included, take home a printed photo too.
Print vs digital photo booths
The first choice is print or digital. A print photo booth gives guests a keepsake to hold or stick in a guestbook: it’s a classic at weddings and parties. A digital photo booth is all about sharing: photos land on guests’ phones, ready to post on social media, and in the corporate versions you can capture leads with consent. Many events combine the two.
Types of photo booth
The Social Photo Booth is compact, digital and designed for sharing. The Box Photo Booth has a built-in printer. The Premium Photo Booth raises the quality of photos and prints. The portable photo booth moves among the guests. The Video Booth 360° records a video as the camera rotates around a platform. The GlamBot is a robotic arm that shoots red-carpet slow-motion videos. The AI photo booth transforms the shot with artificial intelligence. Finally, the virtual photo booth works from a smartphone, even for online events.
How to choose the right one
It depends on three things: the goal (keepsake, social media or leads), the space available and the audience. For a wedding, prints matter; for a product launch, video; for a trade show, lead capture.
